About Us
The Porter Family is a mixed trio from Waynesville, North Carolina whose main goal is to share the love of Jesus to a lost and dying world. They would like to take a few moments to introduce you to their family.
Will and Betty Porter grew up in the small Appalachian community of Harts, WV and have been married since 1973. Will can remember vividly the day he gave his life to the Lord, because Betty, who would later become his wife, was singing alongside her mom and sister that special night during an old-fashion revival service. After Will and Betty were married, Betty’s sister was married and moved away, so Will stepped into her place, and the new formation of The Midkiff Family continued to carry the gospel through their music all throughout the hills and hollers of West Virginia. While they have been blessed by the ministry of sharing the gospel in song, their ministry of taking care of neglected and abandoned children through the Baptist Children’s Home of Western North Carolina has brought them much joy over the past 40 years.
Shawn Porter is first and foremost a child of God, husband to his amazing wife Amanda, and father to his beautiful daughter Maddie. He also has the honor of serving the Lord as the full-time Associate Pastor of Dellwood Baptist Church where he also leads worship each week. He has been around music his whole life. Well known for his lead voice, he also plays acoustic guitar and drums. Shawn has a definite love for Southern Gospel, with fond memories of his parents taking him to see favorite group like The Hinsons and many others. Shawn is passionate about serving the Lord and the people in his community and local church, he also has a deep passion of leading tours alongside his ministry partner and best friend Bobby Rogers, through Rogers-Porter Ministries, to places like Israel, Italy, Greece, and Egypt, but one of his greatest joys will always be sharing the gospel through music, standing beside his dad and mom, the ones who introduced him to his closest friend, Jesus Christ.
